Questions about merging PDFs
Are the PDFs I merge uploaded anywhere?
No. The merge runs in JavaScript inside the tab you have open, using the pdf-lib library. Your files are read from disk into the browser's memory, joined there, and handed back as a download. This site has no upload endpoint and no database — open your browser's network panel while you merge and you will see no file leaving the machine.
How do I control the order of the merged pages?
The combined PDF follows the order of the file list, top to bottom, and each file keeps its own page order. Use the arrow buttons next to a file to move it up or down before you press Merge PDFs, and the ✕ button to drop a file you added by mistake.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
The site sets no limit on the number of files or the total size, but everything has to fit in your browser's memory. On a normal laptop, jobs up to roughly 100–200 MB merge without trouble. Large scanned documents take a few seconds and can make the tab unresponsive while they process; if a big merge fails, do it in two smaller batches and then merge the two results.
Does merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?
No. Pages are copied as-is, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution — nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed. The merged file is roughly the sum of its parts. Form fields, digital signatures, bookmarks and some annotations are not carried over, so keep the originals if you need those.
