Your images never leave your device, and nothing is saved

This is the important part. Compression happens entirely inside your browser using the HTML Canvas API. The files you drop onto the page are read from your local disk by the browser, processed in memory, and offered back to you as a download. They are not uploaded, not transmitted to any server, and not stored anywhere by us — not even temporarily, not in a queue, not in a cache. We never see your images, so we cannot keep them.

Nothing is saved on your side either: the site writes no cookies and keeps no record of which files you compressed (the single exception is a local-storage entry remembering your cookie-consent choice — see below). Closing the tab discards everything. You can verify all of this by opening your browser's developer tools, switching to the Network tab, and compressing an image: no request is made.

What the server sees

To show you this page at all, our hosting provider receives the normal information any web server receives: your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser's user-agent string, and the referring page. These access logs are used for security and to understand rough traffic levels, and are kept for a short period by the host. We do not link them to individuals.

Cookies and analytics

The site sets no cookies of its own. The one thing it keeps in local storage is your answer to the cookie-consent banner, so it does not have to ask again on every visit. There is currently no analytics script.

Advertising (planned)

We intend to place advertising on this site to cover hosting costs, most likely through Google AdSense. If and when that happens, the ad network will serve content from its own servers and may set cookies or use similar identifiers in your browser to measure ad performance and, depending on your region and consent choices, to personalise the ads you see. Third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings, and manage other vendors at aboutads.info/choices. Where the law requires it (for example under the GDPR or ePrivacy rules in the EEA and UK), a consent banner will ask before any non-essential cookies are set. This section will be updated with specifics on the day ads actually go live.

Advertising changes nothing about the first section: ads run in the page, your image files still stay on your device and are never sent to us or to an advertiser.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Since we hold no personal data beyond short-lived server logs, there is normally nothing to export or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, or you want to ask about the logs, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes materially — in particular when advertising is introduced — the date at the top will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
