Reporting a signature that renders badly
Rendering bugs are the useful kind of report, and also the hardest to act on without detail, because "it looks broken in Outlook" describes at least four different programs. Please include:
- The mail client and its version — for example "classic Outlook for Microsoft 365, version 2402" or "Gmail in Chrome on Android". New Outlook for Windows and classic Outlook use different rendering engines, so the distinction decides where to look first.
- Which of the three layouts you chose: stacked, beside a divider, or compact.
- Whether the problem appears while composing, in the sent copy, or only in the recipient's quoted reply. These are three separate renderings and they often disagree.
- What you expected against what you saw — wrong spacing, a line break in the wrong place, a colour that shifted, a link that did not stay a link.
- A screenshot if you have one. It settles spacing questions faster than a description does.
You do not need to send your real signature. Reproduce the fault with the sample values the page loads with, or with obvious placeholders, and paste the generated HTML from the source box instead.
Feature requests
A fourth layout, a Markdown or plain-text version of the same details, and vCard output are the suggestions that come up most often. Anything requiring an upload, an account, or a file hosted on our servers — logos above all — is not on the list, and is not going to be.
Business
Advertising and partnership enquiries go to the same address; put "advertising" in the subject line so it is easy to find.
